February seems to have disappeared without a trace. We had a busy but fantastic month. We travelled, we trained, we cooked, we worked and we worked! We have a lot of exciting things on the way. We have missed out a couple of blog posts but we will make it up to you.

Unfortunately I am still having problems with my wrist, which means that we have had to continue with our “no-hands” workouts.

As you might know from our past posts, we train regularly at House of Yoga. Every week we meet for a private lesson with our coach Savvas, who regularly surprises us with harder-than-you-think ways to flow through asanas. We have been working on many different things including alignment which is a lot harder than you would think!!

Anniversary workout!

On February 12th, we celebrated 3 years together and like we did with yoga, we had to modify our anniversary workout so Steph could go through hands free. We kept the same structure : 7 rounds , 7 exercises and 7 repetitions each!

 7 rounds of:

7 Over Head Squat (Steph did Egyptian squat with the Swiss ball against the wall)

7 Full Reverse Crunch

7 Swiss Ball Back Extension

7L / 7R Cossack Squat

7 V-Ups

7L / 7R  Kettlebell OH Lunge (Steph did goblet)

7 / 10 Calories on the Rowing Machine

As the weather is warming up and we are eating less porridge for breakfast we have started making smoothie bowls! These are extremely easy to make and absolutely delicious!

We like to add a dollop of yoghurt on top and a sprinkle of home made granola.

Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 heaped cup organic frozen mixed berries

  • 1 small ripe banana (sliced and frozen)

  • 2-3 Tbsp Almond Milk (you might need a little more)

  1. Add frozen berries and banana to a blender and blend on low until small bits remain.

  2. Add a bit of almond milk, and blend on low again, scraping down sides as needed, until the mixture reaches a soft consistency.

  3. Scoop into 1 or 2 bowls and enjoy!!

My mother celebrated a big birthday this year, and we threw her a little party in London. It is always great fun going back there and I love getting the opportunity to show Emilio more of the city I used to live in. Some highlights:

  • My mother’s party - this was a wonderful, wonderful evening. Having left London a few years ago it is always so incredibly nice to get everyone together, particularly when there is something to celebrate.

  • Seeing friends - as we have mentioned a couple of times on this blog, both of us have moved around a lot. It has been amazing and I wouldn’t change anything but it does come with its downsides and one of those is missing friends. We have not spent much time in London over the past few years so I always truly appreciate going back and seeing everyone.

  • Training - we went to a couple of pretty cool classes in London! Our two standouts were: Handstands with Alex Nino
Row and Lift at Core Collective

  • Food Glorious Food! We have incredible food in Greece but one of things we both love about travelling is the food! Maroush is one of my all time favourite restaurants and Emilio finally got the chance to try a bagel! (Yes he had never eaten one before!)

Other Fun things

  • As always we have been on some amazing hikes and as the weather is getting better we even went down to the beach.

  • There was a small Banksy exhibition that we went to see.

  • Emilio started working at a really nice gym called Grind. They are a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and CrossFit gym! Time to get my Gi back out!!!
